There is really nothing wrong with any of the products or information we get about trout fishing. The problem is we don’t understand the science behind what we are getting ourselves into. 1. Trout Fishing Season: aka flashy to conservative secret.
The weather has a lot to do with how you go about fishing trout. The earlier and colder the start of the season, the deeper and flasher you want to go with your setup.
Use a flashy lure with enough weight to take your line down deep. Trout in the early cold season are just waking up and will swim closer to the bottom. They are slow to react and need something really shiny to catch their attention. You will rarely find trout closer to the surface during this time of the season. Put away all those light flies etc. You won’t need em’ tell later in the season.
If you can find a lure that is not only flashy but jerks or does a little more than just sink, it will add to your success.
2. The Trout Attention Magnet Method: How to KEEP trout hooked on everything you do.
Trout are very smart and know when they are trying to be caught. Most people tend to either fish too close to the shore or too close to their boat.
You will have better luck if you are casting up away from the spot you want to land in. The trout will not be expecting a fly to come in from up stream or away from the boat. They have good eyesight and are watching your movements above the water. They will not see the result of your line when it lands well away from where you are sitting or standing. This is a sure way to fool a trout into thinking their next meal is at the end of your hook…!
Don’t let your line sit in the water for too long. Keep it moving to make it look like a real trout meal. Keep the trout’s attention away from you and out where your line is landing.
3. Load Your Boat With 9 to 20 lbs Trout: Hide and Seek Secret
Who wants a 20 lbs trout on their hook? Anyone? Then you want to read this one carefully. Some of the largest lake trout you will ever find use the opening of a river’s mouth for their home. It is safe, hidden, and stocked with a constant supply of food. Since they are rarely disturbed, they can grow to humongous sizes.
They are not easy to catch and can put a furious fight. But you will have the upper hand, because you know exactly where to find them. Find an areas at the mouth of the river that has a lot of vegetation, then start to look further for a combination of vegetation and fallen branches, tree roots or anything that will make a nice little overhang.
The overhang will make for a nice little deep pool of water and a perfect place to land your line.
Once you spot it, stay far away from it. Position yourself on the shore or in your boat at a good distance. Your casting skills will come in handy at this point. You want to drop your line right into that perfect spot.
9 out of 10 times you are going to come up with a large catch for the day.
